HIV is one of the leading cause of death and disease among women of reproductive age (15-49 years). UNFPA supports programmes aimed at reducing HIV infection among marginalized groups and also in eliminating mother to child transmission (eMTCT) and unintended pregnancies among HIV positive women.
- Our areas of intervention are:
- Implementation of Elimination of Mother to Child Transmission (eMTCT) related interventions
- Advocacy to policy makers at state and local level to strengthen Reproductive Health/HIV integration. too often SRH services are not fully integrated, such that women with HIV are not offered contraceptive choices, or women attending antenatal services are not given the option of an HIV test. Similarly, too often women – particularly the most vulnerable and marginalized are confronted with coercive or discriminatory practices, particularly in the context of family planning and HIV services
- Implementation of evidence-based Behavioural Change Communication campaign
