The United Nations Country Team hands over over 50 ventilators, PPEs to Nigeria to boost COVID19 response in Nigeria
The UN Country team handed over to the Nigerian government a shipment of 50 A30 ventilators, personal protective equipment and other essential medical supplies to support the government;s COVID-19 response
These equipments were procured with funds from the recently launched COVID19 Basket Fund, including USD 2$ Million mobliised within the un system in Nigeria and a usd $200,000 contribution from APM Terminals.
The UN in nigeria, through the COVID-19 Basket Fund, is supporting the Government of Nigeria with Coordination, preparedness, response and risk communication through the Presiential Taskforce on COVID19 Response.
The guiding principles of engagement for bational authorities and partners to respond to the pandemic, based on lessons learned in HIV response, are the following 1. One agreed national Covid-19 Multi-Sectoral Pandemic Response plan
2.One covid-19 National Coordinating Authority with broad-based multi-sector mandate; 3. One COVID-19 monitoring and evalution system.
