The overarching goal of UNFPA's Strategic Plan (2022-2025) is to achieve universal access to sexual and reproductive health and realize reproductive rights (SRHR) for all through accelerated reduction of the three zeros (Zero preventable maternal deaths; Zero unmet need for family planning; and zero gender-based violence and harmful practices).

The priorities of the 9th Country Programme (CP) for Nigeria are in line with the Strategic Plan 2022 -2025 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF), with a focus on the provision of high-quality rights-based, gender-sensitive, comprehensive, accessible, and affordable integrated SRH services (including family planning) for the most vulnerable populations, particularly women, adolescents, persons living with disabilities, and other groups at risk of being left behind in both development and humanitarian contexts. The 9th CP also maintains a keen focus in addressing emerging population and development issues as well as the unfinished business of International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) agenda.

As part of the new CP developmentprocess, on the 20 of July, UNFPA Nigeria conducted a consultation with core existing and emerging donors, and the private sector such as Norway, Canada, EU, USAID, FCDO, the United Bank of Africa, the Ty Danjuma Foundation, Australia and Germany.

The Country Programme is the vehicle for accomplishing the transformative goals and accelerating implementation of the ICPD through concrete and targeted actions.
