UNFPA treats women with Fistula with funding from KOIVA

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) with funding support from the South Korea Government (KOICA) and facilitated by the Centre for Population and Reproductive Health is undertaking surgery of women suffering from Visico Virginal Fistula (VVF) and Competency Based Fistula Repair Training for Doctors and Nurses from Northeast Nigeria holding at Specialist Hospital Yola. Out of seventy (70) VVF patients booked for the operation, thirty-six (36) have so far been operated on successfully

 

The lead trainer is Prof. Oladosu Ojengbede, President Emeritus, International Society of Obstetric Fistula Surgeon (ISOFS). State Program Officer UNFPA, Dr. Maisaratu Bakari, Consultant Obstetrician, Gynaecology, and State Team Lead Fistula Repair Committee, said the Competency Based Training which will last for seventeen days involves Doctors and Nurses from Kwara, Sokoto, Borno, Yobe and the Adamawa States.
