Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) “ involves the partial or total removal of external female genitalia or other injuries to the female genital organs for non-medical reasons”.(World Health Organization, WHO). More than 200 million girls and women alive today have been cut across 30 countries in Africa, the Middle East, and Asia where FGM is practiced. Nigeria in particular, has the highest number of women cut, with 22% (14,808,000) of an estimated 68 million girls at risk of being cut by 2030.
