2015 Mid-year Programme Review Of The Crossriver Delivering As One Ends In Calabar

A 3-days review meeting of the 2015 United Nations Development Assistance Framework also known as Delivering as one was concluded today in Calabar Cross River State. The mid-year programme review was coordinated to appraise the 2015 work plan to reflect current issues in the State in line with the development priorities and policy thrust of the new administration.

Delivery as One (DaO) is one of the UN Reform initiatives designed to bring all UN agencies supporting any government under one umbrella to be more fit for purpose under four (4) guiding principles of: One Programme One Office One Common Budgetary Framework and One Leader/One Voice. It is also about increasing impact at the State level by delivering relevant, coordinated, and effective development assistance. The lead UN agency for coordination activities in the State is the United Nations Population Fund, UNFPA

His Excellency Senator (Prof.) Ben Ayade, the Governor of Cross Rivers State in his opening address said “for us in Cross River State, delivering as one is the collective and coherent response of the United Nations System to the development aspiration of the state. By collaborating with the UN, the State stands to benefit from those areas for which the UN has cutting edge”

The Governor who was represented by his deputy, Professor Ivara Ejemot Esu went on to say that the State is fully committed to the implementation of projects and in strengthening existing partnerships in Nigeria.

Cross River State at the moment has the largest concentration of UN agency support under Delivering as One. The UN Resident Coordinator Daouda Toure, represented by Koffi kouame the Deputy representative of UNFPA enjoined the State to maximize this opportunity to not only receive support from many UN agencies, but most importantly strengthen systems and structures to achieve the ideals of Delivering as One and make a difference in the lives of the people we are mandated to serve.
