VCT is a gateway to various HIV prevention care and support services including Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT) of HIV/AIDS, Anti-Retroviral (ARV) therapy and management of Opportunistic Infections.

In recognition of the over 3.5 million Nigerians already infected with HIV, UNFPA has partnered with the Federal Ministry of Health to develop a comprehensive Training Manual on HIV/AIDS VCT Services that will assure the training of professional counselors, and the National Guidelines for HIV/AIDS VCT to provide uniform and standardized VCT service delivery in the country.
